Patriots legend Tom Brady, the most decorated player in NFL history, will be back at Gillette Stadium this weekend for a halftime ceremony that will allow the organization and a sellout crowd to thank him for his 20 incredible years with the organization. Over those two decades, Brady helped the team to 17 AFC East titles, 9 AFC Championship wins and six Super Bowl victories.
While The Patriots Hall of Fame will determine how to permanently celebrate the greatest player in league history, it will launch a pop-up display on September 8 to coincide with the former quarterback’s return to Foxborough.
The display will feature his career milestones, his start in New England after being the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, his 59 comeback wins as the Patriots starting quarterback, his amazing list of records held, the record 98 receivers to whom he threw touchdown passes and more. “We are actually scratching the surface with this display,” Patriots senior director of retail operations Jim Scollins said, “but with Brady returning this weekend, we definitely wanted to honor and note some of his biggest accomplishments – both individual and team. We have so many of his game-used artifacts that remain on display, but we also wanted to single him out as he returns to celebrate an amazing career with Patriots fans.”
Two of Brady’s three league MVP trophies are on display in the Hall’s Building Blocks exhibit and there are several game-used milestone artifacts on display, including jerseys from Super Bowls XXXVIII and XLIX. The pop-up display will include:
His game-used jersey from December 29, 2007 when he set the then NFL single-season passing touchdown record with his 50th TD pass of that season against the Giants in a game that also saw the Patriots complete the only 16-0 regular season record in NFL history. A video of that is featured in the “In the Moment” exhibit.- His “blacked-out” cleats worn in the team’s November 14, 2010 win over Pittsburgh, 39-26. Brady completed 30-of-43 passes for 350 yards with three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the win.
- The game-used football, featuring the AFL 50th Anniversary insignia, from his sixth touchdown pass in a 59-0 win over Tennessee on October 19, 2009. Brady threw a record five touchdown passes in a single quarter (the second) and six overall – three to Randy Moss – in what is the largest margin of victory in Patriots history. Video highlights from that game are featured within the In the Moment exhibit at The Hall.
- His game-used jersey from the 2011 season featuring the MHK logo included to honor Patriots matriarch Myra Kraft, who passed away in 2011.
- The ball he used to throw his sixth touchdown pass in a 49-28 win at Miami on October 21, 2007. Brady completed 21-of-25 passes for 354 yards and six touchdowns, including five in the first half, during the win.
- An enlarged version of his 2000 NFL Draft card. Brady was a compensatory pick at the end of the sixth round, 199th overall.
