School Trips
The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon is open to students of all ages. The Hall features interactive exhibits designed to educate and entertain. Try your skill at kicking or converting a 23- or 45-yard field goal. See how high can you jump and compare that to Devin
McCourty. Is your reaction time as quick as the NFL Players’? How hard is it to make an official’s call on the field? You can review a play using authentic instant replay equipment and make the call.
Listen to Coach
Belichick explain the strategies behind each play. Learn if you have what it takes to score a touchdown when you face challengers at “In the Numbers”. Experience Patriots legendary Hall of Fame players and discover if their records have been broken. Then finish with a special visit to see the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophies and World Championship rings from 2001, 2003 and 2004.
The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon hosts thousands of students annually on field trips so that students and teachers can take advantage of relevant education modules that take them out of the traditional classroom into the real world classroom. It offers a well-organized, entertaining, fun educational experience that is tailored to the teachers’ needs. Peg Myers, a former principal and The Hall’s education coordinator, works with the teachers to ensure the field trip meets its goals.
Programs are built so that football fans and non-football fans alike can enjoy the learning experience. The modules are designed to integrate the many facets of sports with real world activities. For example, a math-focused module invites students to join their classmates and serve on the management team of a new NFL franchise. Using budgets and statistics from the National Football League, they will compare players’ strengths, weaknesses and salaries to assemble the best offensive team and then present their team in a “press conference” format.
One of the high school modules serves as a great enhancement to sports entertainment and marketing courses, offering students an opportunity to utilize the marketing principles of product, pricing, promotion, and placement. Students are asked to market The Hall, a related product or a school related promotional activity using the Four P’s of Marketing and present their ideas to New England Patriots marketing representatives during their visit to The Hall.
Our most popular module is a helmet design challenge in which students must design the shell and inside padding of a “helmet” and the test the strength of their work by dropping a croquet ball on it. Students learn about force and the importance of the distribution of the impact in protecting a player’s head.
The Hall also offers an English/language arts activity in which the students become journalists covering a game situation for different mediums and media outlets. We continue to develop new modules and offer curriculum based lesson plans by request.
The Hall does not have a cafeteria, but has worked out school lunch agreements with some of the restaurants within Patriot Place.
Teachers are always welcomed to make a pre-visit tour of The Hall at no charge to “scout” their field trip and prepare correlated lessons for the students. Please present one of the following at the ticket desk: a school identification card, a teacher’s union card, a paycheck stub, or a letter from your school principal on school letterhead.
